Spring

IMG_7452 Amidst the noise and crowds, the shops and carts all I needed was an inhale of a tranquil oasis, somewhere where I could lose myself in the beauty of what God has created. The closest place that fitted my cravings was St. James Park, so this is where mt feet carried me..
An early spring has waved into London this year and every park is ornamented with beautiful-odoriferous blossoms that were falling off their branches discoloring the ground as if a shower of pink snow had fallen. I honestly cannot describe how beautiful the park is because of them and how joyful it is to look at them!

IMG_7425 copy IMG_7419 copyIMG_7442 copyamna1 Spring season doesn’t only mean the end of cold but it also means the end of dark-s. Dark coats, caps and boots. We can finally pop in some color..
I think pastels are absolutely magnificent for spring, not too bright but light enough.

Tea in London

ammyyz_tea in london

Before talking afternoon tea, I wanted to tell you about the places you shouldn’t miss when you’re up for tea and something sweet. I’d highly recommend Aubaine and Cocomaya. Both are two of my all time favorites.

I haven’t experienced Connaught hotel & The Claridge’s afternoon tea yet but I’ve been there for lunch and desserts I would rate them both as very average which kept me hesitant about going there again for the afternoon tea.

Now to what mostly London is famous for… While I was searching for the best places for afternoon tea I came across the history of it and how it all started so I thought I’d share it with you. Apparently the ritual of afternoon tea owes its origins to Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford. In the 1800s she was only allowed to eat two main meals a day. Breakfast in the early morning and dinner late in the evening (I don’t think I would’ve survived in that era). Weakened and irritated by hunger pangs each day, she decided to schedule time to take tea and snack each afternoon. Fortunately this ritual converted to a global tradition.

Places I’ve been to:

Sketch – The Parlour : In terms of the quality of food I’d rate sketch as number 1. Everything is absolutely delicious starting of sandwiches to desserts to scones. Also they have a lovely collection of tea and other drinks. The atmosphere and place are quite lovely. Out of all the places Sketch is the one I keep visiting and craving the most.
The Wolseley: In terms of location and place it’s wonderful I’d recommend it for breakfast more than I would for afternoon tea. Not because their afternoon tea is poor but breakfast is definitely more tasty!
The Ritz – The Palm Court:  If you haven’t been there before, what are you waiting for? Check out my sister’s post if you’re interested in seeing more.
Fountain and Mason – The Fountain Restaurant: Delicious food! Especially their egg Florence was one of the best. However their sweets range is very very limited and the service is just TERRIBLE! People are rude and kinda racist! But I’ve been there years ago so that might of changed!
The Berkeley – Prêt-à-Portea: I absolutely love The Berkeley! Very cozy, comfortable and quiet. Their Prêt-à-Portea afternoon tea is very fashionable and unique. However it isn’t  very tasty! It’s the kind of afternoon tea that you enjoy more by looking at it rather than by biting it. So I never went back for the afternoon tea but I keep going for some coffee and desserts.
Sanderson Hotel Mad Hatter’s Tea: I had an absolute blast at the Sanderson hotel. Their afternoon tea is indeed creative and unique. I was wowed every second of my time there. But again the food as for the Berkeley not very tasty it’s to be enjoyed when looked at.

I’ve been to sketch recently and I had my camera so I thought why not take pictures and write a blog post?

LFW: Burberry Prorsum “Trench Kisses”

burberry-prorsum-rtw-fw2013-runway-03_150607858501♫ ♪ The Killers – The Way It Was

What I’m usually excited to see in a Burberry show are the coats. A Burberry coat never leaves my wishlist. Every season Christopher Bailey dazzles my heart away with his signature coats adding a new element to the remaining classic. On the recent show titled “Trench kisses” I was even more eager to see the signature trench coats. I was surprised to have found that my eyes loved most of what was on the runway from head to toe. The collection included black, white, camel, and dregs of wine-red. Animal prints from jaguar to leopard printed on sheared fur.

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Untitled-3

Few people have asked if I have ever tried drugstore makeup and my answer is always “No” so I thought I’d change the answer to something else..

1I thought I’d give boots a visit and check out their products..

foundationI really like trying on new foundations and I have heard so many good things about the Revlon Colorstay foundation so I thought I’d give it a try. I wouldn’t say it’s the best foundation but it’s pretty good, I liked it’s texture the only thing is it does not stay as long but that’s probably because I picked up the normal/dry skin one instead of oily/combination skin which is my fault not the foundation’s fault. But overall I’d say it’s good not great.

fI also picked up the Maybelline Dream Lumi touch highlighting concealer the first time I applied it, I did not like it at all and the second time I kinda felt a little bit better about it.. so I’m not really sure how I feel about it quite yet.

Collection 2000 Lasting perfection concealer. I absolutely love this! It conceales pretty well yes but I also love it for another reason. I don’t tweeze my eyebrows, I bleach them so sometimes I’m left with little brand new hairs and they usually bother me SO MUCH this was the perfect solution for it I would just apply a little bit under the peak of my eyebrow where they usually appear and it will hide them like magic and actually prefect the shape of my eyebrow. I don’t use it as my main concealer because I love mine more but I do use it daily for my eyebrows.

IMG_2074I got maybelline Flared mascara and Cat eyes mascara. I LOVED that flared mascara so much! it does not smudge at all which is a huge appreciation and most mascaras give me a headache -yup it’s pretty weird I’m pretty sure i’m the only one who gets mascara headaches- this one is too light that it doesn’t give me on. on the other hand I hated the cat eyes it’s the exact opposite too heavy on the lashes and smudges like crazy

eI got two lipsticks from the Kate Moss collection by Rimmel. This is my favorite pick up. They last for so long, pigmented and mat just they way I like my lipsticks. got them in 90 and 10.

Lush Haul

Untitled-41I’ve been wanting to write about lush for a while now because it would be really selfish and unfair for me not to share the amazing products I’ve found at this magical place of soaps. Surprisingly I have never been to LUSH in my life before few days ago, although we do have it in Doha but I guess I was never interested or I thought it’s no good. Lately, I’ve been a youtube maniac -as you know- and everyone on youtube bumbled and rumbled on how lush products were amazing so I thought I’d try them out. The first time I went to lush it was pretty overwhelming. I didn’t know how to shop or what to do, there were so many things, so many labels and so many colors. But now that I finally understand how every product works I look at lush as if it was disneyland for cosmetics. I thought I’d share with you how everything works, what I got and which one of each category was my favorite

Bath Ballistics:

How they work: through them in a tub filled with water they’ll give color and a divine smell. I usually combine them with bubble bars because they only give color, smell and moist but no bubbles.

final flowerIMG_1334 copy

Untitled-56

Think Pink: My favorite, a definite re-purchase, after you’re done with your bath it will leave your bathtub with little heart shaped prints.

Tisty-Tosty: Love, re-purchase, leaves the tub with little roses.

Space Girl: Smells great, loved it.

Butterball: Didn’t try it yet.

Bubble Bars:

How they work: Before you fill your tub with water you have to crumble the bubble bars and then add water with high pressure so you’d get the most bubbles out of your bar. Here it’s the other way around color does not last as much but the smell it will last forever *sigh*

levenderUntitled-62A French Kiss: My favorite, smells like lavender, repurchase.

Amandopondo: “A beautiful rose and lemon bath, for when life is being a bitch” describes it pretty well

Green Bubbleroon: Lovely if you’re in for a garden of delights, smells like fresh green grass.

Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds: Didn’t try it yet

The Comforter: Didn’t try it yet

Body conditioner

Untitled-32Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner: This is absolute magic. Because of the unbearable cold weather I have been living through in London my skin got so dry like it never did before! after one use of this my skin was so soft and smooth even better than it was before!! Smells fantastic – smooth – you don’t have to apply lotion afterwords.

Body butter:

2 Untitled-69 Untitled-66You Snap The Whip: LOVE. It smells so good, works so well. It’s made to soften the hard areas like the knees and elbows, and -surprise- it really does!

Buffy: Didn’t try it yet.

Shampoo Bar:

I liked the concept behind the shampoo bars. Lush is a friend of the environment therefore they came up with these shampoo bars so they’d produce less of the plastic containers. So I really respect lush for that, even if you return five containers of your finished-used products they’d give you a product for free just to encourage recycling.

New: LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Really helped my hair! my sister also got this and she loved it as well.
Seanik: It’s good, but I liked “new” better.

Shower Jellies:

Sweetie pie: To be honest I found it quite difficult to work with the shower jelly, it can be used for the body and scalp as well. I, however don’t believe that I would re-purchase it.

Fresh Face Masks:

maskThey also make fresh face masks that last for two weeks I thought I’d try some..

Love Lettuce: the first lush product that I did not like. the seller recommended this one to me because I have combination skin and she said this would restore the balance of my skin. It didn’t, I really didn’t see any difference. I think it works more as an exfoliater than a mask and my exfoliater is SO MUCH better so I didn’t like this one.

Ayesha: On the other hand, I LOVED this one so much, after 10 minutes I was left with glowy, healthy looking skin like i just had a facial at Bliss. Although, it looks and smells hm what’s the word? let’s go with “not very pleasant”

Soaps:

Willow: Didn’t try it yet. But the reason I got this one was not the smell (although it does smell good) it was the legend behind the pattern that gave me goosebumps. I never really knew what the pattern on fine china meant. Here’s the simplified story (I bet the seller tells it better).. There was a girl who fell in love with a man from a lower class than her, her dad did not approve of her love, so he had engaged her to a wealthy Duke, the man she fell in love with wouldn’t give up on her so they ran away together and lived happily and in harmony for some time but then the Duke found them and had them executed. Later on people sympathized their love so they had the two lovers symbolized as pair of doves.

back to the products..

Sultana: I started using the sultana and I really liked it.

Fun:

I loveeee fun!! You can create any shape you want, with the color and the scent of your preference! And you know me I love personalized products.

How to use it:”There are so many ways to wash with Fun. For body and hair, just pinch off a small bit, hop in the shower or bath and lather from head to toe. Use as a bubble bath or to hand wash your clothes by crumbling a small chunk under the hot running tap. When you’ve finished having Fun, please store your bar back in its cellophane.” *website description*

How I use it: I use it to add more bubbles to my bath, I love bubbles and fun creates waaay more bubbles than the bubble bars and it also smells great! I got it in Red and Blue.

Hope this would help xxo

The Three Bs

Untitled-3..In more depth and details the reason why we went to Notting Hill in the first place was the french restaurant “Beach Blanket Babylon.” If you personally know me or an old follower of my blog then you’ll know how much I LOVE  European -more specifically- french furniture and BBB gives the feeling of a luxurious Château.

edited2Unfortunately the timing of the restaurants here is pretty frustrating, lunch ends at three and dinner starts at six and we were there 3:30 therefore we did not make it to lunch, so we just sat down for drinks instead. Because the place was so beautiful I wanted to try the food and also it’s pretty far from our apartment, we decided we’d shop until dinner to not miss the chance of having delicious food. And I’m so glad we did, I found so many AMAZING stores that had edgy clothes, beautiful furniture and cute pet stores.

newGot my Pooh a couple of things. I finally got her a collar, she’s almost 1 and she doesn’t have one *terrible mommy alert*

002And of course when there is Diptyque, there’s a candle purchase. Their scents are so unique and divine. I got the limited edition Rose Duet that was recently launched which combines two layers of Roses and Baies, the scent takes you to a garden of delights..

After the very long walk we took, we were finally back at BBB for a lovely dinner by the fire and the food was deliciously worth it
