2015: Skincare

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

2015 is almost over and I thought I could finally share my favorite products and things that I’ve been using since start of the year. So expect a marathon of blog posts from now until end of year! The marathon will start with skincare routine.

Before I tell you about the products I’ve been using I must tell you a little bit about my skin. It was oily and acne prone and for that reason I went on Roaccutane to calm it down as I was fed up with constantly breaking out on my chin so I just decided to go on roaccutane and I’m so happy I did, thank God now my skin is all cleared out and it has never been better! Thank God.

The products I will mention are helping my skin stay hydrated, moisturized and soft. However, these products are not clearing out products, they will not clear out acne or eliminate breakouts. After roaccutane my skin became pretty normal and less, less oily.

Step 1:Filorga Cleansing Foam (Day & Night)
Step2: Sunday riley Good genes treatment (Day)
Step 3: Trish McEvoy’s Beauty Booster Serum(Day&Night)
Step 4: Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturizer (Day&Night)

Step 1:Filorga Cleansing Foam (Day & Night)
My dermatologist prescribed this cleanser for me. I’ve been using it since march till early December. It’s been so good to me. Did not break me out, kept my skin clean, removed my makeup (not that well but did a decent job). I loved it, the entire time I’ve used it, until recently I felt like my skin started to get a bit too dry.. cold weather and a foam cleanser during winter isn’t the greatest choice to go for, so just last week I bought a new cleanser. I’ve been using Filorga Cleansing Foam all year long & haven’t had a chance to fully test the new one for it to be in this post.

Step2: Sunday riley Good genes treatment (Day)
I love this so much! I only use it during the day as I feel it wakes my skin up! It’s supposed to help your skin get rid of any blemishes.

Step 3: Trish McEvoy’s Beauty Booster Serum(Day&Night)
This is my second emptied up bottle! Such a nice product! I’m not that great with describing what skincare products do to my skin but what I could say about this one is that it makes you soft. Soft like a baby. And also it has anti aging qualities so that’s a plus!

Step 4: Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturizer (Day&Night)
All moisturizers break me out. ALL. except this one!! Beginning of the year I’ve been actually using  Aesop Oil Free Facial Hydrating Serum which is also fantastic and a great substitute for cream moisturizers if they break you out but I ran out of it quite quickly since I was on roaccutane and needed constant hydration. So I decided to try out lush’s moisturizer , so glad I did! AMAZING moisturizer and does not break me out.

Step 5: Fresh Sugar Lip treatment
The best lip balm no doubt, no question. Go get it. You’ll pray for me.

You’re probably wondering why I don’t have an eye serum in here, because all the ones I’ve tried suck, suck, suck and only make my eyes worse and puffier! I just stopped using my eye cream 3 weeks ago and noticed a huge difference! My under eye area is actually way better!!! I simply hate eye creams. They only make things worse!

That’s my 2015 skincare routine xx

Current Favorites

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetYou realize what makeup products you like the most when you find yourself reaching out to them whenever you’re in a good mood or going somewhere special. I thought I would do a little post about the products I’m currently loving.. Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset If you want to save yourself a read then here is a list of the products I will rave about

Benefit porefessional Primer Chanel Mat Lumiere Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua 2000 collection concealer MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder YSL Radiant Touch Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion The Hourglass – modernist Chanel Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow-Emerveille Stila waterproof liquid liner Chanel Volume MascaraNars Laguna Bronzer CT Glow UD All nighter makeup setting spray

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetI’m not a big fan of premiers and I rarely use them, but I actually ended up loving Benefit porefessional I‘d usually apply it after moisturizing. Then I’d follow with my favorite foundations, Chanel Mat Lumiere and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, I mix them together and use Sigma F82 for application and then just to make sure that my foundation is well blended I follow up with a clean Real Techniques Stippling Brush. If I’m having a good skin day I’d skip this step but if there are any imperfections I’d use 2000 collection concealer to cover any blemishes or breakouts, etc.. Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetFor highlighting and brightening, I’ll start applying MAC Pro Longwear Concealer using Sigma E60 brush under my eye then I’ll set it using NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder with Real Techniques micro Setting Brush. There are two ways mac concealer could go: either you get it right and it looks amazing!! Or you get it wrong and it looks cakey.   Sometimes I would highlight lightly some areas like the bridge of my nose or the peek under my eyebrows using YSL highlight pen. Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetBefore applying eyeshadow I use Sigma P84 brush to get rid of any creasing on the eyes. Then I’ll apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and blended also using Sigma P84 brush. Been very much loving the Hourglass palette it’s highly pigmented but I wish there was a bit of shimmer to it, it’s too mat! and also I wish I made a wiser choice of the colors. Mine is The Hourglass – modernist, been using the beige mat as base for Chanel Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in the color Emerveille using Sigma E55. Absolutely love the two together! Finish up with Stila waterproof liquid liner ,curl my lushes & Chanel Volume Mascara.(It’s more than amazing, go get it!). (Unfortunately I forgot about taking pictures of the rest of the products so I just listed them up). Side note: Please let me know what you prefer in the comments. More detail or less detail? just a list or how I personally feel about each product? I’d love to know your opinion xo

N-A-P Beauty Haul

IMG_8514 copyThere is nothing more fulfilling than the feeling of receiving a new package especially when it is coming from the ultimate luxury destination. I was extremely excited when Net-A-Porter extended to beauty and I finally found myself in actual need for new beauty products so I thought it is the perfect time to go droll and scroll on NAP page!

IMG_8538 IMG_8549 copy Here’s what I got:

IMG_8578Skincare: SK-II Pitera Essence SetI don’t think I’ve ever heard bad things about SK-II and I’ve always wanted to try out their Facial Treatment Essence. So I figured I’d try out this set which comes in a reasonable size for a first time try and includes what I believe my skin needs right now.  Set includes Facial Treatment Mask, Facial Treatment Essence and Facial Treatment Clear Lotion.

Haircare: Another thing I’ve always wanted to try is Oribe Signature Shampoo and I also went with the Oribe Signature Conditioner.

Bath&Body: Le Labo, Rose 31 Shower Gel. I got this because I miss, miss, miss and miss my flowery and rosy shower gels -As some of you might know I used to get most of my shower gels from Jo Malone until I started boycotting them because they come under Estee Lauder Group which funds war against Palestinians- I honestly had so many moments where I was like I’m just gonna go in and buy one thing but I keep reminding myself that people’s lives are more important than a shower gel. So long story short I thought I’d give this product a try. I hope it smells as good as the description.

IMG_8608 copyMakeup: I loved almost everything that I previously purchased from CT. Two things I did not try before from her line were lipsticks and eyeshadows so I went for Charlotte Tilbury Eye Shadow Palette – Fallen Angel and Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick – Love Liberty. I’ve always wanted to try out Hourglass Highlights and Blushes because that’s what they’re mostly known for however at the time of my purchase they were sold out so instead I went with Modernist Eyeshadow Palette – Monochrome.

I was in need of a new eyelash curler so I added Le Metier De Beaute Eyelash Curler to my bag. And finally I got By Terry Lip Balm in Rosy Babe I’m REALLY disappointed with this product, I’ve already gave it a try and its not what I expected it to be! The color sucks and it isn’t nourishing or moisturizing enough! Such a shame cuz I was really looking forward to it 😦

IMG_8641 copyHope you enjoyed the haul as much as you enjoy receiving packages *I hope too much hehe* xox

Beating Winter

IMG_8499 copyAs lovely as winter can be, it’s not exactly the kindest weather on our skin. I usually go dry during cold seasons but not this year thanks to two miraculous products that I couldn’t not share with you. Aesop Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm & Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub

IMG_8426 copy Aesop Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm:

If you suffer from dryness occasionally or all the time then worry no more, because this body balm will leave your skin hydrated with a healthy glow. It has a light texture to it and sinks into skin right away. My least favorite part about it, is the scent, although now it’s kind of growing on me but I have to be honest you might not like how it smells at first but that’s just a compromise I’m willing to make to get skin as soft as silk.

Untitled-1Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub:

Another product that’s not scented deliciously but works miraculously is Aesop body scrub, this too helps in leaving your skin silky and beautiful since it gets rid of all the flakiness and dryness. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had a scrub that worked better than this one. Again the scent isn’t the greatest but I’d rather use something that really works than get something that is overly fragranced and would do more damage than good.

Friday Morning Routine

IMG_7143 copy IMG_7151 copy IMG_7203 IMG_7208 copy IMG_7211 copy IMG_7226IMG_7240 IMG_7241 Untitled-1new1errornew5errornew2error I just love my Fridays more than any other day of the week and even with the good life of the unemployed I still appreciate Friday and try to make it extra special!
First I’ll start my morning with a shower using my favorite products: Flake away scrub and Clean on me shower gel by Soap and Glory . I LOVE those two combinations despite the many many scrubs I’ve tried flake away remains my favorite and I keep on repurchasing it over and over again.
I follow by washing my hair with Bumble & Bumble Thickening shampoo which is the best shampoo I have ever purchased. I cannot describe how good this shampoo is and how much it has helped my hair stay on my scalp rather than on the floor. When I first got it I wasn’t so sure about it, I didn’t like the smell it was too boring for me. But after using it for a while I started noticing a real difference and my hair stopped falling out! So I made my entire family convert to that shampoo. This is my third re-purchase of it! I’ve used different shampoos in between but I keep coming back to this one.

After I’m done I like to light on a candle. My current favorite is Rosamundi by Diptyque & Spray my current favorite perfume Peony and Blush Suede by Jo Malone.

I’ve been using The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory. I love how it sinks into the skin right away so it speeds up the process of getting ready, it does moisturizer and it’s well scented  but it isn’t my favorite body butter and I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing it again. Another item that I got my hand on from soap & glory is the Heels genius which is just a big disappointment I absolutely hate this product, I hate the scent and I see no results in what it supposed to do. I usually apply any body lotion or butter on my feet and put on socks afterwards and vola after few hours my feet would be as soft as velvet so when I saw this the other day at boots I thought why not give it a try! So far hating it, but I’ll keep on using it cuz I usually don’t like products when I first get them( You probably know that by now).

Finishing up with my skincare products, I usually moisturizer in the morning using Kanebo Sensai Silk Emulsion (Light) and then apply my absolute favorite sunscreen Eau Thermale Avène spf 50+ if I’m going out during daytime this step is an absolute must! I used to think that sunscreen isn’t an important step but I was WRONG, now it’s essential. My makeup application varies depending on where I’m going but two thing I will always apply are Dior Lip glow and Dior Addict Lip Maximizer. And if I need my makeup to stay in place till nighttime I apply Beauty Flash Balm by Clarins which basically works as a primer I read somewhere that it isn’t suitable for daily use so I keep it for special occasions or long days.

Don’t forget to Read Alkhaf before you head out. I like to listen to my favorite reader while getting ready Click Here.

Have a blessed Friday  xx

Night Skincare Routine

IMG_4230I’ve been asked to share my skincare routine a couple of times but I did not want to post about it until I was 100% sure that those products are worthy of mentioning.

Before I start telling you about the products I use, I want you to keep in mind that those products might work well for me but not for you. Each one of us has a different skin type and each skin has different needs. When my obsession began with youtube beauty videos my skin was in a pretty good condition until I decided to believe in the products that were mentioned by beauty gurus. Which was the biggest mistake I’ve ever done. You have to keep in mind that youtubers, bloggers, etc.. make money out of advertising certain products so even if those products weren’t as good they will still be recommended by them to you!

By believing in their recommendations, my skin started acting up and started to get really irritated, I broke out A-LOT. It took me a while to realize that you don’t need ton of products to keep your skin healthy and beautiful. Magazines, celebs, bloggers, youtubers, etc.. will tell you that you need bizlion and trillion of products because this is how they make a living! BUT you really really don’t! All you need is a decent cleanser and everything else is just a treat. Click Here to see the products that have ruined my skin.

My skin type: Oily to Combination

1 MAINMy night skincare Routine:
1- Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips
2- Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Milk
3 – Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying mud Soap *
4 – Estee Lauder Adanced Night Repair *
5 – Kanebo Sensai Silk Emulsion (Light)
6 – Dr Sebagh’s For Your Eyes Only Puffy Eye Cream
7- Dr Jackson’s 04 Coconut Melt
8 – Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish

Items marked with * are essential to me and are the reason my skin got better. Evey thing else isn’t as important.

Step 1:

IMG_4225 copy

If I have makeup on I start by removing my eye makeup using Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips. It does the job perfectly but it’s just as good as the L’oreal remover for waterproof eye makeup (You have to make sure it’s the waterproof, the regular one burns the eyes and does not do the job). Unfortunately since they’ve changed the packaging I can no longer find it in Qatar. So I converted to Kanebo.

Then I will start removing the rest of my makeup by using Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Milk which is a lovely product that doesn’t break me out or harm my skin in anyway. But it does not remove the makeup quite well so I have to follow with Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying mud Soap which is just the best product in the whole wide world. Whenever I’m using this product my skin will be in a good condition. I believe it helps with preventing breakouts and it does a fantastic job of keeping the oil in my face balanced without drying my skin.

I only do this once a day at night. Cleansing my face twice with the mud soap would be too much for my skin and if I don’t have makeup on I would skip using it as well.

Step 2:

IMG_4250 copyAnother fantastic product is Estee Lauder Adanced Night Repair this is the only product that I came across that was REALLY worth every good review and the hype. After I cleanse my face I apply few drops of it and in the morning my skin would be brighter, smoother, hydrated and more radiant. This product really excels with its results. I only apply it once a week and if my skin was tired I fulfill its thirst by using it 3 times a week but that’s a maximum amount of use per week.

I’ve been recently given a sample of Kanebo Sensai Silk Emulsion (Light) which is basically a light moisturizer for oily to combination skin that hydrates without being overly thick. I’ve used it for two weeks now and so far so good it is the kind of moisturizer I’ve always wanted to have. I use it in the morning more then I do at night however when I feel that my skin is overly dried because of the cold weather I apply it after the Advanced Night Repair serum. I believe in less is more so I use a very small amount of the product.

By now you could really see that I hate applying too many products on my skin on daily basis and I believe the reason my skin has been  good to me is because I was good to it, by not adding too many chemicals on my face that would just irritate it. However when it is thirsty for moisture, applying a serum or a moisturizer is a must!

Step 3:

IMG_4260 copyI sometimes get puffy eyes in the morning and in order to prevent that I apply Dr Sebagh’s For Your Eyes Only Puffy Eye Cream before I go to bed. I do this step very very rarely(Maybe once a month if I’m really cynical about having puffy eyes) because I believe the undereye area is super sensitive and you shouldn’t over use products on this area! Even the touch of your finger is too much and could cause darkness! ( I know a lot of people might disagree but I’ve noticed that the people who suffer from undereye darkness are the ones who use tons of products underneath their eyes to prevent what their fingertips is causing)

I ordered Dr Jackson’s 04 Coconut Melt because I was in need for a moisturizer but when I opened up the package it wasn’t what I expected it to be! I don’t really know how someone can use it as a face moisturizer so I just ended up using it as a lip balm and it does the job pretty well! But I’d pick Crème de Rose over it with a blink of an eye! If I ever get my hands on it before it gets sold out!

IMG_4270Lastly, I’d like to talk to you about exfoliation. I only exfoliate when I feel that my skin needs it, that is when I get dry patches or dead skin cells that dis-smooth my foundation when I apply it. Therefore exfoliation is the soulation to get rid of any of those unwanted problems to result with an even and toned skin that is prepped for makeup. I’ve been using Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish recently and once again with exfoliaters, I don’t know how I feel about it. I’ve used different exfoliaters before such as Origins modern friction and Liz Earl gentle face exfoliater. Out of the three I think Liz Earl’s is the least harsh and most gentle. It does get fast results so I like to use it when I have a special occasion and I want to look radiant right away. However it can only help in the short run, the next day I’d wake up and all the problems I’ve had would have returned as well, with the other two exfoliaters my skin would last weeks without any dead cells, etc..

I exfoliate when my skin needs it, so this could either be once a week or once every two weeks. Exfoliation could be really harsh on the skin and I don’t know how some people do it on daily basis! And be careful not to exfoliate where you have a breakout or a pimple this could lead the breakout to spread all over your face.

Most of the days I would only cleanse my face and go straight to bed. This step is definitely a must & Stay tuned for my Morning Skincare Routine xo.
